89eliminator
what i did was take off the shocks, calipers, sway bar connects and drop the axle till you can get the spring out by hand. you will need to jack the truck up a pretty far ways. i put jackstands on the lower control arm mount on the frame. 89eliminator
no problems at all. i put 6.5in coils into mine with no trouble. i jacked the truck up really high and dropped the axle all the way to the ground and it worked.

A-man930
I had a hard time getting the track bar off the frame, you need a puller iirc... it was a HUGE pain with the trackbar attached, I had to rent a set of compressors.
JeepcoMJ
I had a hard time getting the track bar off the frame, you need a puller iirc... it was a HUGE pain with the trackbar attached, I had to rent a set of compressors. if you know what you're doing you don't need specialty tools. I actually don't know anyone who uses a puller for them anymore (to my knowledge). hammer and cro-bar. place the cro-bar between the trackbar and the trackbar mount, after unscrewing the TRE's nut of course, then take the hammer and hit the side (inner side right on the end where the trackbar TRE goes through) of the trackbar mount hard a few times. should fall right out within 5 hits or so. use this technique on any tie rod end. A-man930
You know, now that I think about it, I ended up detaching it at the axle... (sooo much easier) The limiting factor became the brake lines. It was a while ago, and I was taking out 3" lift springs, not stockers.
Suuperman
Brake lines do not need to be a limitation. Just unbolt the calipers and zip tie them to the control arms. This way they are not 'in the way' and you don't have to undo them and then bleed the brakes.
JeepcoMJ
and, if you're lifting it more than 2 or 3", you need a new trackbar anyways so the first thing that should come off is the upper end...if you do the lower first, you'll never get the upper off. ridergoatee
If only lifting 3", why even mess with calipers, just take the brakeline mounting screw in wheel well loose, then relocate it to gain length.

A-man930
Well, as you can probably tell this was my virgin experience with a SFA setup... Where should I look for a different track bar since I'm lifted about. 4"???
JeepcoMJ
Well, as you can probably tell this was my virgin experience with a SFA setup... Where should I look for a different track bar since I'm lifted about. 4"??? they're all over the internet. just don't buy rusty's (the absolute worst quality you can buy, and you probably want one with a new trackbar mount up top and a poly bushing instead of a TRE. this lift is temperey till i get money for a spring over right now I'm takin a brake i got the fornt springs out you guys are a big help[/quote SOA-ing a rear axle will cost you $45 max for the perches and ubolts, then you'll need to lengthen the brake line, or buy a dodge dakota rear line. I'd probably do a spacer and shackle lift for now were I you, cause with SOA you're gonna want 4.5" or 5" of lift anyways, so there's no point investing in shorter lift than that.
