Can I use brake parts cleaner to help remove all this black goo? Also when its clean should I pack it with dielectric grease or

OXGard?

I soaked both ends of mine in odorless mineral spirits. Brake parts cleaner and acetone evaporate way too quickly to do an effective job, unless you want to use a LOT of it...

 

I did do a quick rinse with Brakekleen afterward though.

 

And dielectric grease is fine, just don't go overboard with too much.
