Pete M
if the reason that the seal has failed is rust, sealing on top of it will only make it worse over time.
gogmorgo
1. Trapping moisture and rust by gobbing RTV (or anything else) on the outside will cause more problems than it solves. 2. RTV won’t hold the glass in if the urethane glue holding the glass is unsticking itself. The glass absolutely will not survive falling out. I’m not sure why we're still discussing gobbing RTV onto it. I’m sure they’ll do a decent job of it once their automotive guy comes back. They shouldn’t need to touch the headliner or anything, either. Most they’ll do is maybe flip your seat(s) forward to get better access to the window, but they may not even do that if they’ve got the tools for it. Pete M
If you're alone in a junkyard and you use the wire-saw method for extraction it is super-duper easy to accidentally cut into the B-pillar plastic. It's also possible to NOT do that so I'm just saying be careful.
Classy Comanche
I have now also found water running in at my fuse box! I found this just now after it rained and yes its covered up. What's the main culprit for that? I have also ran a water hose on the driver side upper corner and man.....it pours in. I am willing to try anything. The floor isn't rusted! Pulled the carpet and it was soaked under....but not rusted I have multiple rags under the carpet as of now. I'm willing to try anything. This has really thrown me into a loop because now I have to have my back glass repaired and my a leaking spot on my fuse box??? I can't keep this up. I'm going to have to call out of work tomorrow to get this stuff sorted and fixed. Would caulk fix it? Because I have ran a hose on my driver side up at the very corner of my hood and there it's leaking bad.
Classy Comanche
So. Update: I have switched the wet rags out from under the carpet where it meets the metal floor. All of them soaked. Every single one. I have replaced them with a single full dry towel. Last night when I initially pulled the carpet back there was small puddles but no rust. I have got that part done. The windows are down and it is drying as of now. However I'm still stumped as to why it could be leaking. I'm having no electrical issues. When a water hose is ran at the upper driver side corner where the fender meets the hood it leaks is it the fuse head that's back there in that area? I personally cannot tell. As mentioned above I am willing to try anything. I'm trying to make my last stand before I go to my last last resort which is selling. Lots of frustration, countless hours of sleep lost and many nights of worry have arose from this little jeep. I appreciate yalls help. I already have an appointment with Chevrolet Wednesday and going to the glass shop Thursday so I hope this week I can really chomp down and get these gremlin of all issues fixed!
