Would this cause excessive cranking of my starter?

87 Laredo 4x4, with the 4.0 liter Manual shift truck.

And if so, I hear that its replacement is not a fun job... is that true... lol!

Its not the CPS, I think it's the check valve in the gas tank. After cycling the ignition 3 to 4 times, that truck started decently and is not revving. Although, I will check the CPS eventually!

Or, it could be leaking injectors. Not holding pressure after the Jeep is shut off and requiring the fuel pump priming you've been performing.

Either way, my entire fuel system is slated to be rebuilt. I see that Rock Auto offers new steel gas tanks for our trucks, along with fuel pump. filter sock and tank straps. I will also replace all of the fuel lines and get 4 port fuel injectors.
