Warren99
Now that I have an 87 Chief interior( including the dash and whole harness), I’m trying to put my aftermarket radio back in. Did the radio harness change wire colors at all from 87 to 89? I'm using my 89 book but either the wires are diff colors or I just don’t understand how to interpret it properly. i need someone to explain how to interpret it, or send me the radio wire diagram from an 87. Thanks

Warren99
Just to make sure, when looking at the speakers, A is positive and B is negative right?

Seems to be true except for Left Door Speaker. Gotta love these manuals. Both 87 & 88 show the same. Typo maybe, best I can do. Look at your speakers, that will be the same. schardein
I remember reading somewhere, that if a speaker is not marked positive and negative on the terminals, you can use a 9 volt battery and some short jumper wires as a test. Touch the leads to the terminals of the speaker momentarily. The speaker woofer will move. If it moves out, you have the polarity correct. If it moves back, the leads are backwards. Reverse them and try again to confirm. I think I read that in the electrical tips column in the old JP magazine.

I'll treat it as a misprint/typo
Warren99
What does BLK w/TR mean? From looking at my wires it seems like w/TR just means with a white stripe, but in the diagram I also saw example like BLK w/WHT.
Ωhm
It means at the time of print the trace (TR) wire color was unknown. But what was known was wire had a tracer on it. Some say if the harness builder was out of that color, they just used another color for the tracer.
Warren99
Oh ok so TR essentially just means theres a stripe of some color?
Ωhm
Yes. Wire will/should have a tracer color on it.
