a1awind Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 doing some forward planning today and was up tooling around with my MJ and i realized that the bed bolts don't go all the way through. they seem to be studs welded to the underside of the bed.... I'm getting a new bed this spring and i don't have access to a cutting torch what do i do? i don't wanna seem helpless when it comes to this but its my first project
jeepthing07 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 they are studs but are not welded... It made it easier to line up when putting it together at the factory. i just put bolts back in mine when i put my bed back on its a metric thread iirc
Limeyjeeper Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 The bed studs/bolts are M10 x 1.50 with 15mm heads on the bolts/nuts.
a1awind Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 yeah but the thing that irks me is the boneyard probably cut the studs. can you replace them? or should i just drill a hole and use carriage bolts? the old ones are so corroded (sp) they will need cut off but the new ones are what i am worried about.

Limeyjeeper Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Just replace them with bolts. It makes putting the bed on a bit more tricky but it is doable. Use M10 x 1.50 x 30mm as a minimum bolt length. Use 8.8g or preferably 10.8g weight bolts. You can get them at Autozone.
