My first restoration - 1989 Comanche Pioneer

Recommended Posts

Just purchased my first ever restoration. I hate to admit but initially I wasn't planning on restoring a Comanche but this one just sort of fell in my lap at a price I couldn't pass up with pretty cool story behind it.

I bought this gem from the second owner that purchased this vehicle initially in 1992 with 55k miles on it. He then proceeded to drive this beauty from 1992 until 2017 as his daily driver racking up a measly 230k miles. Currently the truck is sitting at 285k miles, hasn't run in four years and need a whole lot of love. I found this website and thought some like minded folks would appreciate the truck for more than just her rough appearance.

some notes on what this baby has

upgraded seats

original brake lights

sliding rear window

I will get more pictures when I have time to really get in there but this is going to be a full resto.

If you have any questions or warnings or whatever feel free to let me know. I sort of jumped right into the deep end on this one.

Welcome to the club!  Start going through Cruiser54's list of electrical upgrades and make sure the cooling system is solid (I'd recommend upgrading to open personally).

If this is a '92, he already has the open style cooling system (i'm jealous)

Nice find! :comanche:

Since nobody else has said it.. your grille is upside down :laugh2:

HAHA when I was looking at this before I bought it I was under it going through the frame and unibody for rust, popped the hood to see how bad the engine was and then when I looked at the grille I started giggling. I asked the guy if he replaced the grille and he told me he had done it himself.
