sergiorod1987
I am getting really bad vibrations taking off in first gear and in reverse. I was thinking the motor mounts and transmission mount may be bad so I replaced them. I still have the vibrations although not as bad. I noticed there are these spacers between the transmission mount bracket and the transmission. Are these supposed to be there? They may be pushing the transmission too far up so that it's hitting on the tub? If they are not supposed to be there, I'm guessing the bolts may be too long if I remove them and try to reinstall. Anyone know the thread and correct length of bolt that should go there? Thanks
AeroNautical
Mine certainly doesn't have those spacers, the plate is flush with the transmission. It's pushing it up, which could cause a poor driveshaft angle, as well as touching the tunnel as you said. I don't know the thread pitch and bolt length off the top of my head, but I'd say pull one, measure your threads, then measure the spacer thickness. Subtract the thickness of the spacer from the old bolt, buy new and roll with it. Another thing to consider is if the exhaust cross pipe is touching either the cross member or tunnel. If so, that'll cause some vibes too.
mjeff87
That is a definate homebrew mount using the wrong crossmember (AX15 uses a model-specific one). The trans body should be resting directly on top of the crossmember, not hanging off the back of it like that. Clever idea there, but I think that's where your problem lies. sergiorod1987
Thanks for your responses. Anyone have photos on what it should look like and part number to the correct crossmember?
AeroNautical
3/4 inch t-case drop blocks will make your current cross member compatible with the ax-15, actual ones are hard to come by. This is an old photo, but it somewhat shows how the mount goes:

sergiorod1987
Mine looks to have the same drop at the center of the cross member. Here it is again from the other side, first picture. I removed the spacers and reinstalled everything and the vibrations seem to have gone down significantly although they still occur on occasion. I also feel something lightly hit now going over bumps so I think the exhaust bracket is now too close to the cross member?
