TheJeepNut
So I was JUST reading my Hemmings Classic Car magazine from March and there's an article about a 1988 Dodge Ram D50. My dad had one of those. Actually he had the Plymouth Arrow version and it always a great truck. Until the deer. But in the course of reading there was an image of the dash and I was struck by the similarity. I honestly don't recall the specific layout of the interior of the Arrow. But ChryCo owned the Jeep brand in 1988 so it's not a stretch to really wonder if we might be able to use these for an MJ. Why would they create a new part with all the XJ and MJ parts already being manufactured...? Noted the reset knob is in the middle but all I care about is the speedo. How come a lowly D50 get's a 115mph speedo and all we got was 85?... not fair. Although I would suppose these are in about as short a supply as the XJ cop version. But if I can find one of these I'm going to buy it just to see if I can take that speedo out and move it over to my cluster. Thoughts?
scguy
The D50 is just a rebadge Mitsubishi Mighty Max. I had an 89 2.0, AT with the optional AC and PS. It was slooowww. Like lose off the line to a post office truck slow. I highly, highly doubt there's any interchangeability.
dasbulliwagen
Yeah, the layout is similar, but that cluster is pure Mitsubishi. I highly doubt its even close.
Pete M
my 88 MJ doesn't have a single Chrysler part in it. all AMC. takes time for parts to get designed and for changes to happen. unless collaboration occurred between AMC and Mistu many years earlier, I'd say there's a 0% chance of direct swapping. but with modifications and patience, just about anything is doable eventually.
