Transmission case broken

Hi everyone 

my 1990 4 litre 5 speed has a broken transmission lug mount . Can I use rear case from a yj or does have to be xj/Mj part

Not sure what you talking about. Pic be easier as then I could read it better. What trans do you have ax 15 or ba-10?

I have a ax15

Ok. I wanna say weld it back. But in theory you should be able to swap the case with any 4wd ax 15 as the internals shall stay the same.

Futhermore a yj ax 15 should be a direct swap. I think it was just the tcase that was clocked different an xj/mj setup.

I would weld but part is to damaged plus being alloy

Aluminum can be welded by TIG. I would certainly try that before hunting down a blown tranny and taking two of them apart nto move the rear housing over to yours.

I agree.  Any competent welding shop can repair a broken aluminum casting with the appropriate welding method and filler.  The cost would probably be less than the cost of a used transmission for a case donor.
