CEThomas Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Getting ready to go get the rear DS cut down. For everyone that has a 8.8 SOA, did you use a t-case drop??? Or leave the t-case at the OEM height. With what I have to pay, I want to get the DS work done right the first time 8)
Rokhound Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 i left my at stock just set your pinion angle right and go from there
CEThomas Posted November 22, 2007 Author Posted November 22, 2007 Do you have any vibs with the high angle????
Rokhound Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 no I have run mine up and down the road at 60+ and no vibes
CEThomas Posted November 22, 2007 Author Posted November 22, 2007 Thanks, Off in the morning to see how much to cut the DS down
Pete M Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 High angle? You're thinking of XJs and other short wheelbase rigs with their tiny driveshafts. :D
CEThomas Posted November 22, 2007 Author Posted November 22, 2007 Well, Higher then when it was 2wd and 6.5" lower
Pete M Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Just be sure to replace the U-joints. They tend to dislike any changes to their operating angles.
Twisty Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 My SOA in the rear is close to 7.5" and I have no vibs at all. I've been up to ~75mph too.
pingpong Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 WHen I did my 8.8 swap I all ready had a SYE.. so I guess I really can't answer that question  I wil say this.. the 8.8 is a gear oil hog though.. IIRC it took like 5qts of oil :headpop:
