Shifter Interlock operation on 1992

I am new to the Comanches and noticed that when the jeep ignition is in the run position, I can operate the automatic floor shifter without pressing on the brake. Is this correct or is something wrong?

That’s correct. The interlock is activated with the ignition switch. My 91 is that way
