Torq_Shep
I have a set of pretty decent eliminator wheels that 3 of 4 have essentially no corrosion but the clear coat is gone. One of them has minor corrosion but I think that it can be repaired without losing the machined finish. Should I have these chemically stripped and recoated with something? Is clear powder coat better than 2k clear? Any idea best method to prep these?
neohic
I used aircraft stripper years ago and it worked out great! The old clear lifted right off, I then gave them a good rinse with water, and they were finished up with fresh clear.
Torq_Shep
Did you use 2k clear?

scaleless
Powder coating is obviously going to be lot stronger and that's important when it's battling road debris all day, but I really don't think that makes up for its cost. A good 2k is also a lot clearer, but I don't think you'd notice without a side-by-side. I would personally go with a 2k.

I have PPG 2k clear that I can spray them with but I am worried about adhesion.

I’ve never used rattle can 2k, just traditional 2 part clear with hardener. I wonder how an epoxy clear would turn out. Those epoxy coatings are supposed to be super tough with excellent adhesion without any primers.
