8 ohm Speakers

Can anyone tell me where to find 8 ohm speakers for the Comanche. I google, find what I think I need but the impedance is always 4 ohm.

Going to use factory RX-135 radio. Maybe Minuit can chime in.

Don't bother. Use a single pair of 4 ohm speakers instead, or add an amplifier and remove the load from the radio entirely.

A single pair would negate the fader control. I am not an audiophile just like everything on my comanche to work.

Is there any harm to the system if I use 4, 4 ohm speakers?

The built in amplifier is not designed for that. You'd be driving twice the load the system is designed for. I would suggest going easy on the volume knob.

 

For what it's worth, the amplifiers have a built in thermal protection circuit, so they should cut out before they blow up.

Yup.

 

There were several different part numbers for speakers, and it did vary based on whether it was a 2/4 speaker system and whether or not the Jensen "system" was equipped, so they might not all be 8 ohm.
