So I realized that I lost one of my Drings going down the Horse Thief road. Oh well they are not terribly expensive right?

So I'm driving out on the same road in.....and at one point I see a red cylindrical object, that I just happen to catch slip under me. So I slow down, backup a ways(I was going like 50-60), and then I see the red cylinder, turns out its the pin from my D ring!

So I start looking around, and a few hundred feet further back down the road I see where inertia carried the d ring just a little further along and just off the side of the road. If I hadn't gotten lucky(real lucky) seeing the pin there I doubt anyone would have noticed the d ring for a long long time.

So then we headed over to the Klondike bluffs road to look for some camping. Camping is allowed in this area but only in established sites......which there are not many.

And we find Dino Prints!

So we found an established site just before sundown, and setup camp:

And enjoyed a clear cloudless Desert sunset:

So the next morning we made our way over to an almost was uranium mine, they started construction here, even started blasting a road to the top of the rocks, did core sampling. But never really established a mine, such is the fickle business of mining:

A few miles away over some very rough terrain we found a miners cabin:

So we wheeled our way into the backway of Arches where we didn't need to pay to get in. And then drive south out the entrance before heading home for the weekend.

Seems like that rock on the right is very happy to see that hole over there

Took a small detour off I70 to the old road which is now a "parking area" and got to see a pretty nice  IceJam on the colorado river:

I got to spend 3 days in Moab last year driving home to the east coast from Seattle. Absolutely LOVED it. Drove my old 2wd suburban to Gemini Arches and Potash Road to Shaiffer Trail into Canyon Lands.
Trying to make another trip to Califirnia thru Moab this Spring. But Covid isn't helping with planning. If I go, this time I'm taking a 4x4 Grand Cherokee. Just too far to drive my MJ
Pictured is my old 99 Burb. I miss that truck. Sold it to buy the MJ. Still not sure I should have done that.9ca6f942bd6cf770aecb3e22178d0e9f.jpg
