I'd still like to find things like factory paint codes and such, but I haven't found the usual information panels. All I've found was a faded tire pressure sticker in the glove box and the emissions panel on the firewall. It's also interesting because it has a bench seat not buckets. Not sure which axle configuration or transmission is in it, and I couldn't even find things like payload or towing capacity.

I was rather surprised at just how good of condition it's in. Picked it up for $2300 in Northern Colorado. Guy sold it because it wouldn't pass smog (Luckily Wyoming doesn't care about that stuff ), but it runs and drives pretty damn well for a 35 year old. I've used it as a regular driver, but I need to do preventative maintenance (oil change, brake flush/checking drums, etc.) I'll be sure to start a build thread. eaglescout526
Since it’s an 86 the VIN plate with the paint code and interior color code is on the drivers side of the front support under the hood by the fender. So right by the front drivers head light.

Pete M
the "plastic bucket seat" is one of those reused codes.

Heck I'm just glad my build sheet seems a little more comprehensive than some of the others I've seen in the registry. Some of the codes have me curious though. Any way to get more information on them?
eaglescout526
They’re just sales codes. Codes that identify what is or was sold with the vehicle.

How do I find out which 5 speed I have? Anything to tell me what axles I have?
eaglescout526
AX5 is what you should have as those came behind 2.5Ls and the 2.8L. the BA10 came behind 4.0Ls from 87-early 89. And AX15 came later.
Pete M
front axle is always a dana 30. rear is likely a dana 35, but could also be an AMC-20. sharing a pic of the diff cover will answer that easy enough.

Pete M
your height sensing prop valve linkage is inverted. the big swing arm should point to the passenger side, not down. it typically happens when a truck goes up on a lift and then the operator doesn't make sure it goes back where it should when brought back down to the ground.
