Clueless
Hello all. I purchased a 1987 short bed, 4wd , 4.0 Comanche and a separate Dana 44 out of a MJ back in August however due to work have not been able to fiddle with it too much. It just blew a head gasket and I’m in the process of putting a 92 HO head onto the stock renix block. Other than that are there any other “required” upgrades that should be done? And can I purchase the front half only of a XJ lift kit or is it better to piece together my own lift? Thanks!
Torq_Shep
for a Renix you must look at http://cruiser54.com/ tips. An XJ front lift kit is fine to use on an MJ. What kind of lift are you looking for? Looks like you might already have a 3"?

Torq_Shep
SOA with stock springs will net 4.5-5" If you are already running an AAL or lift springs in the rear you may need to remove them.
Smokeyyank
Follow cruiser54s tips on the HO swap. It's not just bolt and go and you need to get a few things to make it work. There's also a guy on youtube that did the HO swap on renix that has some good tips, can't remember his name. I'd also go through Cruisers general list of "to dos" for the renix stuff. Specifically headlight harness and the C101 connector refresh. As for the lift guess it depends on what you want to do, rocks, mud, mall crawl and your budget. Pete M
an SOA with stock leafs could be as high as 6.5" (and by that I mean the owner needed 6.5" lift coils up front in oder to make it level). all depends on the sag in the 30 year old springs. look into the anti-wrap leaf perches
