Wipers squeeling, what now?

Well, yesterday I went to use the wipers to clear the leaves from the truck and the wipers made a horrible sound and moved very slowly. It was rather startling in morning. Well, it happened again this morning too. So, it appears I have another MJ project for this weekend. :mad:

I haven't looked under the hood yet, but anyone know what I am talking about?

I haven't had that exact problem yet, but I can tell ya that the wiper stuff isn't under the hood, but inside the cowling area between the hood and the windshield. Could be that the motor has gone bad.

I can't remember how the MJ wiper arms connect, but if it's like the design in this picture, your screws may just be a little loose, or where the linkage connects to the motor could be loose:

my wipers make terrible noise if i do them and the windshield is dry.. .they get stuck in one spot but when its rainin they work fine.

GOOD luck and i say that because it is tight in there. Pop off the cowl and theres everything crammed in a small area. I just looked mine over but i had to undo the conection to do some wire harness migration and it wasnt a area my hand like to fit into.

Could be your wiper arm assembly bushings are shot. I did the below, worked great:
