87MJJeep
Has anyone here painted their black door handles with long-term success? Mine are black and faded. While I am painting the other plastic parts such as the fender flares, would it be wise to paint the door handles, too? Would the Krylon Fusion stand up to repeated contact? ghetdjc320
This may sound crazy but if you are good with a blow torch you can get them looking like new. You can also quickly ruin them this way so be careful. An actual heat gun works better. You just need to lightly and evenly heat the plastic. Make sure to remove your handle from the door first. Once the plastic looks like new again, hit it with some black plastic restore and it will Jeep it looking great for a long time. Lasts for quite a while and won’t peel or flake like paint

A cheap heat gun is a great general purpose tool to have anyway, so it'd be worth it to buy one for this purpose if you don't have one. Don't go crazy with it and start slow, but after a while the plastic will take on its original color again. It won't last forever, but it'll look great in the mean time. Works on fender flares and other black plastic trim too.
AZJeff
I painted mine with “trim black” and it looks great. But... my wedding ring (made of tungsten) wears off the paint on the inside. Oh well.....
87MJJeep
Thanks for the advice! I have a 3-heat setting heat gun. Should I use the middle setting?
