JeepFanatik Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Has anyone relocated their charcoal canister and have pics? Did you replace with a different canister? If so what did you use? I'm planning to relocate and get it out of the engine bay but not set on what canister i want to go with as a replacement.......i think i saw a post about an 01XJ but not sure if i'll need to fab up a mounting bracket. 88 4.0 Renix here
Dzimm Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 98 XJs had it under the rear end on the driver's side. That's the setup I used for my 97+ swap, Id imagine you could make that system work on your 88 with some modifications.

tarmac2dirt Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 This may be something I will also do. I am curious as to why you guys move the canister other than cleaning up the engine bay. I do get fuel smell some times in the cab, I guess it comes from the canister? Thanks
AZJeff Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 Mine is located there because I have a driveline from a 2001XJ, but moving it frees up space in the engine bay, and doesn’t cause any issues for the undercarriage if done well.
