Bacon
huh? lifting it IS modifying it. you're gonna have to be more specific. but the general rule is, the more you lift the suspension, the more problems you're gonna run into with other things like driveline, steering, brakelines.... 89eliminator
you can put in a 2-3 inch lift before you have to get different lower control arms.
feerocknok
I feel anything over 2" should come with new lower control arms.
MJ'87
i put a 5" lift for rocky-road.com on my '87 mj. its fine without the longer lower control arms, but i can't get too off camber or go over big bumps without my front tires rubbing flairs. id like to get em, but money is an issue. FxRacing282
chase... 2" budget lift (not reccomended but cheap) 3" with coil pack.. thise are basically your options without anything major. go over that and you worry about axle and steering issues. Chase The Hero
ok. thanks yall this is much appreciated. how much would a budjet lift cost? I'm kinda on a low budjet so the more bang for the buck the better. :D

At 5", I needed new lowers, a track bar, and could use uppers. My stock lowers contacted the shock mount at ride height with 5" of lift, making it so I had no down travel. Chase The Hero
question, do XJ AALs fit MJs? :dunno:
FxRacing282
yes they do but they don't add as much lift like less than one inch. now the only thing with AAL is that they make for a harder ride as the AAL is lifting up the other leafs so take that into consideration. i guess you could always run tires low
