I can double check but I’m pretty sure most of them are
eaglescout526
Yes. A lot of the hard ware is very much the same. The drums and the shoes are different. There are are three sets of shoes left for the D44

I need to get back on this.

One of the first things I looked for when I replaced my pedal pads. That being said, I can almost swear the forklift at work might have a foot pad similar as it has the same brake release handle as our trucks. This is really peculiar since anything I've purchased aftermarket has different listings for 35 and 44 for more than drums and shoes. In fact 44 has left and right specific wheel cylinders with different part numbers. Hardware would be different since shoes are different. The only thing I haven't bought new yet is the equalizer bar which I'd like to but cannot find which is why I've been following this close. eaglescout526
I can post the numbers from the catalogue for each axle when I can.

I just pulled hardware from a 91 grand waggy. I guess I should have verified first online. The drum seemed different and wheel cylinders but I grabbed it anyhow for comparison. Rockauto even has different drum listings for 91 grand wagoneer 44 vs. 1990 cherokee 44. I'm hoping hardware was not specific to 87-90 xj/mj 44. The few times I've found wrangler 44 rear, hardware and gears are always gone if housing was left. They strip them bare fast.
eaglescout526
Oh well that’s a different animal. The SJ shows completely different backing plates numbers along with hardware. I’d imagine that the SJ would need to be more beefy to stop that tank. But I can’t give you any true part number comparisons between the SJ and MJ because Chrysler just did the same thing AMC was doing with the SJ and kept part numbers for it the exact same and very rarely superseded any of them. So as for that parking strut, it comes in a package on the SJ and separate on the MJ. You could always take an MJ and SJ hardware and compare them side by side to see just how close they are

saveevryjp1998
Not trying to threadjack by any means and I'll eventually post under tech when I get more info. I just found out late 80s wrangler yj only had 35s for rear so as of now it sure looks like 44 late 80s mj/xj rear 44 were their own breed. I had no clue all yjs came only with 35s and it wasn't until 97 with a tj the rear 44 so unless they used same setup I'd say factory mj/xj 44 parts are their own breed for sure. eaglescout526
I’ll do some digging. The more vehicles we have to source for brake parts the better.
eaglescout526
Oh hell. So interesting discovery. It wasn’t until 1991 when Chrysler changed a lot of part numbers over to them. The AMC years for YJ MJ XJ D35 hard ware is interchangeable. 1991 and up became their own animals and will interchange with themselves. Thanks saveevryjp for pointing something like that out.
