At least the tank is 7 feet behind the driver instead of 6.. There is a ton of room between there so it fits most tanks and is convenient. Being lifted, the tank should never be squished between the axle and bumper in a wreck, it would get pushed over the axle if the wreck was that bad. It's also less of a concern since it's not under a passenger compartment. If the tank were to send fuel everywhere in a collision, it would be in/under the bed rather than in the cabin like a Cherokee. I still personally wouldn't want a tank there if I could avoid it.
