Hard-Cranking Window Regulators

Recommended Posts

...

Going in to change the outside door weatherstripping

window-sweeps, on both doors. They are both, old and cracked.

Both window-regulators are hard to crank and dry with both

not going down, all-of-the-way (before the crank gives).

I am planning to grease both, while I have each side apart.

I would like to grease them, only-once though.

What is the best grease to use on the regulators and the cranks,

that will not be too affected, by heat/cold, moisture, dirt(and-time) ?

Thanks,

Since you are taking other things out, recommend you remove the regulators and pull the screw rod completely out. For some reason, the driver's side tends to have a worn spot and the passenger side looks like the bottom item in the photo. The good news, this internal piece is exactly the same as the manual regulators on four door Cherokee, front and rear. Also, if it is just a worn spot, you can swap this piece from driver's to passenger side.

Don't know if it is the same on the power regulators. Always worth a look at the junkyard.
