ruralandalone
86 comanche... Can anyone tell me EXACTLY how the accessory relay at the ignition and the metal spring clip go together? I have replaced my ignition switch, and I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the spring clip and relay back in. I know they have to go in together, but I am uncertain of the spring clip orientation. Does it go above, below or beside the plastic relay? My best guess is above (away from) the lock cylinder, with the small bend at the bottom towards and below the plastic, but I can't get it in. Can anyone clarify this? (A drawing or sketch would be WONDERFUL....)
eaglescout526
Are you talking about this: 14 and 15? That's the key in chime. It either works or it doesn't. it is not essential.
ruralandalone
That is the one! Exactly the info I need. Thank you very much! It may not be essential, but since I'm in there anyway, I might as well try to get as much correct as I can. (and I apologize for the incorrect terminology)
eaglescout526
Eh no worries. I knew what you were talking about when you described it. Those things are tricky to get working properly.
ruralandalone
I assume it should go in after the locking screw?
eaglescout526
Here. Refer to this. He talks about when to install that thing at the very end.
ruralandalone
Success! I got it in place, put the rest together, and everything works! (miracle of miracles!) T He hardest part was to get the turn signal mechanism into proper place, so that the switch worked in both directions. Thanks for the help! eaglescout526
No problem. Glad you got it in place an actually functioning as intended.
ruralandalone
I'm not actually sure I WANT the door chime to work, mind you. But at least now I have a working ignition lock. Now I guess I am going to have to consider whether to upgrade the horn, which seems to bleat rather than honk. Not sure I want my badass truck to sound like a lamb..... :)
eaglescout526
I cleaned up all my contacts for what makes the horn works and it’s flawless.
ruralandalone
I'll try it, but really - it bleats!

As in when you press the horn and it sounds like you are repeatedly pressing the button? I had this issue and on the inside of the column on the turn signal switch should be a copper rod poking out. Mine was corroded and once I cleaned the top that makes contact with the cancel cam, horn works like it should.
Ωhm
You've got two (2) horns and a horn relay. Run B+ to each horn and see if its truly the horns.
