Renix MJ tank to HO pump adapter

Doing the ‘89 to ‘99 swap and in looking at my fuel tank/ pump options I keep coming back to using my renix tank with an adapter ring for the ‘99 pump. Problem is, I can’t seem to find one. Anybody have a good lead or even have one to get rid of?

In my experience, those pumps connect/lock WAY different. 

 

RENIX is a tabbed ring the 97+ XJ uses a very large threaded ring.

 

Maybe I am mistaken but don't recall an adapter ever being mentioned before.

^^  This. Amazon sells both the late model XJ fuel pump threaded nut and seal. You would have to cut a hole in an unmolested tank to use the late model pump.

And 97+ XJs has plastic tanks

There were companies (copperhead fab, GenRight) who made adapters for installing XJ  ho pumps in an MJ tank a few years back. I know the tank has to be modified. I just can’t find those adapters any more.

I actually think after some measuring and thinking about it that I am going a different route. I'll document it.....
