madog7200
Can anyone tell me where this hooks up at... I'm assuming its behind the glove box somewhere, and is it reachable without removing the whole dash? 91 4.0 Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
madog7200
Probably should have attached this earlier Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
HOrnbrod
It looks like the vacuum supply line from the reservoir to the HVAC / A/C control @$$'y. It hooks to a nipple on the right side on the back. Does it pull a vacuum when you start the engine?
madog7200
It doesnt pull a vacuum... it's the piece that comes out of the HVAC control unit... when I put a vacuum on it the a/c doors start working again...Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
madog7200
I assume it runs through the firewall to the vacuum canister but idk where to make the connection Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
HOrnbrod
Do you still have the vacuum controlled water heater valve in the engine bay? If so, the vacuum line from the valve should go to a "T" fitting on the right firewall. Any vacuum hoses missing from that "T" fitting?

Ωhm
Can you start the vehicle and cycle the AC/Heater Control head through its different position while listening for a vacuum leak from the AC/Heater head? Possible plastic nipple has broken off.
madog7200
Would the sound be obvious or subtle... I was messing with it earlier and I didn't notice anything strange?Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Ωhm
In one or more of the positions you might hear a hisssssss. Might take a young ear to hear.
madog7200
These are the pictures I came up with from the HVAC service manual looks to me like it's the line going from 2 and 11 to the reservoir... but idk what reservoir its talking about Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Ωhm
Source vacuum (engine manifold) is stored in the reservoir w/check valve. When vehicle is under low vacuum conditions (ex: WOT), the reservoir maintains vacuum for any and all vacuum operated actuators. I think its located behind the front bumper. madog7200
I'm not really sure what this last comment means... I guess I'm going a little dumb? What does WOT mean and is the "reservoir" the canister that everyone relocates up beside the fuse box in the engine bay? Ωhm
Sorry about WOT (Wide Open Throttle). Low vacuum conditions. Its not the fuel canister. Not sure of location on the 91's. Anyone?

Yes, the vacuum reservoir is the plastic canister located behind the right front bumper in stock config. And yes, many relocate it into the engine bay, normally on the right firewall to prevent vacuum leaks that often occur where the vacuum line passes through the front bulkhead. This is how I did mine - lots of other ways to do it.
madog7200
Yeah so I guess all thats left to figure out is how the hose I have connects to it Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
madog7200
Forgot to take pics, but I figured I'd update yall anyway... Took on the task of removing the dash this morning to find where that pesky hose connects to... Had to undo everything and remove everything to free the dash and the other end of that hose was lying behind the vents that are in the upper portion in the middle of the dash, just to the right of the radio...All in all, less on learned... don't jam a new radio into its slot if you feel any blockage, something is bound to let go lol1991, 4.0 HO, 4X4, 5 speed, AX-15 Short bed, Rusty's Offroad add a leaf
