Do Wiring Diagrams change for each year? I have a 1988, will the 1987 (70 series) 8980 010 491 work?

yes, it does.  I have an 87 electric manual (paper) and the 88 manual (pdf).  I found at least 2 cases where the 87 manual does not match the actual wiring in my MJ.  However, the 88 manual does match the wiring in the truck.  

 

My truck had May 87 production date.  AMC must have run out of the 87 wiring harness.  The assembly line must have used the 88 harness.
