T case replace.

Recommended Posts

So gentleman’s. I’m pretty sure my t case is fooked. The question is would it be better to rebuild it or grab on from a junkyard?  The next question is. Are all 231j gonna be the same? Because I found one in a Cherokee and am concerned with the inputs output and whatnot. Any help is appreciated. Thanks dudes and dudettes.

As far as better, that depends on what's wrong with your current one.  The MJ/XJ cases will be the same depending on year and transmission.  Spline counts changed at some point and someone will chime in with the years because I don't know them.  Cases from Wranglers are clocked different so stay away from those.

Easiest is to swap in a new one of similar vintage and keep your broke one for spares if the new one craps out or rebuild it and have a known good spare t-case laying around somewhere.

you should add your truck's details into your signature.  that would help us with figuring out what you need to look for. :L:

wrangler transmissions clock the t-case up higher. :L:    the t-case itself is the same as an XJ/MJ (in relation to the mounting hole location)
