wphilipw
Hey guys. Long time Jeep guy first time Comanche owner Looking to do 4.5 lift to clear factory JK wheels with 255/75's. Original plan was a Rustys 4.5 kit but they kind of pissed me off wanting $155 shipping for what I thought was already a pricey kit. So now I'm considering a Zone Off-road kit. I know nothing about these guys. Anybody running this kit? How are they getting away with 4.5 lift and no adjustable track bar? Thanks in advance for the help. Dzimm
Zone is getting away with the missing adjustable track bar in order to offer it at a lower price. I researched the 4.5" kits to death when doing mine and determined that Rusty's had the best deal on their kit overall. Absolutely everything you need is in it. Not a single bolt or part was left out, even the stuff you only "might" need is in it, like leaf spring shims (which I ended up needing). I priced out the missing parts from other kits like Zone's, and buying the parts separately and then paying shipping ended up costing more than just buying the Rusty's kit, even with upgrading the shocks. Also the sipping is so high with them because they ship freight with all the parts strapped to a pallet. Other companies like Rough Country ship things in separate boxes through UPS which causes parts to show up days after others (I had this happen with my XJ kit from RC and it was annoying). If you want to see what the Rusty's kit actually looks like, look at my build thread, I would definitely pay the price again because it's a great kit. Crash
I would search here and on naxja forums. There are plenty of DIY/budget?decent priced "kits" or correct ways to buy/build your heep. Without going SOA in the rear (which can net 5+" of lift pending) Lifting the rear a decent amount is really the spendy part. You do not need 4+" lift to run 32's. Especially on an MJ. Cut fenders in the front with a couple inches of lift would suffice. Anything over 3" in the front, IMO, definitely needs an adjustable trackbar and should have replacement LCAs/relocated or replacement extended brake lines etc.

Pete M
whichever you go with, use longer swaybar links rather than sway bar spacers. the bolts that hold up the sway bar like to snap off, even on relatively clean MJs.
