Pardon my lack of searching...easily swapped into my '88 4.0 5spd w/o tach?

yes.    if you have idiot lights, then you'll need to swap out the oil pressure and temp switches for the appropriate sensors.  be very very careful removing the oil pressure switch.  they like to snap off at the block.
