Virginia
I'm putting in a new master cylinder and have run into a snag. There's a pin that's holding some sort of plastic tube to the canister on the master cylinder. How in the hell do you get that pin out?
Jeep Driver
Drive it out with a punch, be careful not to lose it, you will need it again.
HOrnbrod
1/8" parallel drift punch.
Virginia
I got and good thing I kept it because I dropped the one that came with the replacement cylinder. Took me a minute to get it bled but now it's changing gears like a champ and the pedal doesn't slowly depress if my foot is resting on it. I had to move the windshield wiper fluid reservoir and even then the bottom nut was a buggar to get to. 3.5 hours for the first time....I'll take it. Gene
Hi Virginia, Didn't you have the thread up, several months ago, wondering whether this was master cylinder or slave cylinder? I happened to think about you the other day and wondered how it turned out. Good work! Gene
Virginia
Hi Gene....yes, I did have the thread up. Took me a while to get the courage up to tackle it. Glad I did. Several things I read pointed me towards the master cylinder so I started there. I made a mess though because I didn't have a tube to put over the bleeder valve. Good grief, what a mess. Anyway, it feels very different now and seems to be working fine.
