87 Base to ??? Swap

So I have an 87 sportruck with the 4banger. I want to put the straight 6 in it. What's the best route to go? Any advice appreciated!!

2 or 4wd? Other than that, buy a running driving XJ/MJ and swap everything necessary.

Rear driveshaft will not be plug n pray if you get an XJ donor

I swapped to a 95 only issue I had was the fuel tank. Everything else kinda bolted in. I ended up using a 22 gal 96 Dakota tank and sender. Switched to a newer returnless fuel rail.
