Track bar suggestions

Recommended Posts

Just exploring my options on a track bar for my truck :

88 swb with OME 2934 coils running about 3.5 inches of lift....

The current adjustable track bar I bought won't work due to the taper not going far enough in the frame bracket for me to thread the castle nut on AND fit the cotterpin in . I've tried the newer frame bracket with the same results ..... I'm open to suggestions to make it work if it's possible .

So being that I'm running 3.5 lift I'm looking for one that goes from 3/3.5 inches and up ( not up to 3.5-4.0 inches of lift ) in case I lift it in the future .And I'm looking for one that has a adjustable sleeve so I don't have to unbolt the track bar to adjust it . Other than that I have no requests .

So what do you suggest ?

Mine was set more than two years ago and remains untouched.

I like simplicity, the lack of a sleeve is a non issue for me.

As I stated in the other thread, I'm moving mine to the XJ and buying a new one for the MJ in the next couple of months when It comes time for the WJ swap.

Everyone's missing this. I use the Teraflex 1743022, advertised for 3"-4" of lift. I'm about 2-1/2" and it's nearly bottomed out. It'll go to 4+ inches easily if you need it. Other pluses is that you don't have to drill out the mounting hole which I didn't want to do, the bushing is available for replacement should you ever need one, and it's super easy to readjust with even incremental changes in lift hight. A minus is that it's expensive now, like double the cost when I bought mine. But it's beefy, well made as all Teraflex products are, and worth the $$ IMO.

There's lots of adjustment with the supplied sleeve, and the threads are the same as the HD ZJ track bars. So if you want to go higher a longer sleeve wouldn't be that difficult.

And w/o the drop bracket which you really don't need or want w. 3" or less lift. I didn't know these existed.

This is precisely why I chose the JKS.

Frame brackets for every one that I looked at at the time either dropped down, or, and. moved forward.

Also, I like the factory bracket, it has a bulged pressed in for strength, the aftermarket bracket look weak.

I don't think the one you linked would work without the bracket because it has a bushing at each end , unless they make an adapter ..

Everyone has their preferences, I wanted the sleeve and also seen that the JKS bar required drilling , which I'm not prepared to do. Something that bolts directly on is fine for what I'm using the truck for .

It's for a ZJ rear - just read the fine print.

That explains it then .
