89 Comanche pioneer no fuel pressure at rail?

Recommended Posts

I have a 1989 jeep comanche  and I'm not getting any fuel at all in my  fuel rail/rack I have replaced  map sensor fuel pressure regulator fuel throttle position sensor   fuel pump relay and  fuel pump is all new  i have blown out the lines  and even replaced the  E.C.U and still unable to get consistant fuel to the  injecors  !? But when i spray  ether  into the breather it  starts and  runs  smooth  but does not stay running i have checked  all the connections and  yet I'm stumped ?  I have also manualy  jumped from battery to the pump and  it pumps gas into the rail but gthen doesnt start !! maybe because  its  flooded I'm guessing  but thats the only way ive been able to get any kind of fuel pressure to the rail ! but needs to be done through the  E.C.U ectt....  I'm needing anyones  help who has  knowledge of this same problem or simular !   Signed--------> desperatly in love with my comanche :)

Try bypassing the ballast resistor.  It is located on the driver's side inner fender.  Disconnect the two wires from the resistor and connect them together.

The resistor is there to reduce the noise of the pump.  These parts are known to go bad.

Cruiser  thanks ole buddy  and yepper I'm back and yes I'm alive :) and  yes still have that old truck and nope I haven't  resolved this issue yet but I'm certainly by process of elimination getting close  well at least in my mind  !!  well that didn't help  now did it :)  great to see yiou cruiser you where the single very first I met when I joined several years  ago I think maybe 09 or so ? anyways  yes I'm having a rough time on this fix the pump  I can hear running but when I check at the rack there is no pressure at all when I check at the check valve !! won't even take a reading I have replaced all the sensors checked vacuum lines  electrical connections even replaced the  E.C.U  still no go  so its back to the ole  black board  when I turn the key on I hear the pump ingauging then stops normaly when it builds its pressure it does that but when I crank I can barely get it to start just barely   but sputters because  not enough fuel getting to the  injectors / rack I have to use  ether to get it to start but doesn't stay running  ?  maybe the pump even though uits new  it still is  bad  or just not keeping  the fuel prime steady consistently

yes I'm afraid so cruiser it's pointing to that  and gee i can't remember if it is airtech  either way there is nothing else  ive turned all the rocks  except  that one !thinking it be new but experience  has told me in the back of mind  just because it be new don't neccessarily mean it can't be  faulty  ! it may be running but isnt putting enough pressure seems to be the problem  I'm going to pull the  pump and at same time drop the tank ! both are brand new also the vents on top of tank i special ordered all three  maybe  sugar in tank I'm guessing  a disgruntled brother may also be the problem ! gotta always  account for those things too ya know!:(  how can i actualy find out if in fact there is sugar in my tank would the signs be  gas turned into  H20 ? or the fuel in the  line  gumm up ?  gee its  a thought ill get back to you tomorrow  after ive  dropped the  tank !!
