Zambeezy
Did it come from a 4 cyl or 6?
sinkrun
It was a 6 if I remember right. I can get a better pic if someone can help id it.
Zambeezy
Looks like it's out of a Cherokee. I've read the tach won't work unless you match it with s 6 and a 4 with a 4. If you can figure out if it did indeed come from the 6 cylinder I'll take it

What makes you think there is a Cherokee or even a Comanche specific cluster? Same thing with the tach, do your search. I "think" you just might find the same part number tach is listed for both engines. WARNING: This cluster will not work in your 1992 Comanche. This cluster is for a Renix era Comanche/Cherokee. ALL blue plastic clusters are Renix era clusters. You want a cluster from a 1991 to 1996 Cherokee/Comanche. They have white plastic and are plug and play for the 1991-92 Comanche. So I appreciate the information...but dang man, the tone is completely unwarranted. It's completely possible to correct someone without being condescending and feigning superiority. Let's just pump the brakes now... I thought it was from a Cherokee because I've never seen a stock Comanche with this cluster and all swaps I've seen have come from Cherokees. And yes, the model number comes up for both. That doesn't mean the tach will work in both...which is what I said You know what they say about finding the right answer online: it's easier to post the wrong answer and wait for someone to correct you than to ask the question and say you don't know. I don't know enough about blue plastic clusters to have an opinion but why do you think that's the case?
johnj92131
Blue clusters all come from renix era cars. Also, the blue clusters are a different shape at the back than the white clusters from the H.O. era. So even the electrical printed circuit paths are different. They have a cable drive input for the speedometer. The renix era gas gauges work opposite to the H.O. era gas gauges. Full will read empty, empty will read full. H.O. era speedometers are electronic, not mechanically driven. Even the renix era tach is physically different from the H.O. tach. They don't even bolt in the same way. As to the tach: I "think" there is an adjustment on the tach to go from 4 cyl to 6 cylinder. That is from my memory. I have been experimenting with mix and match clusters for a long time. Also have been reading the information posted here for a long time. Have at least 6 or 8 different clusters in the garage to compare. From 1986 TurboDiesel to 1995 Police package with 120 mph speedometer. Ended up just doing a simple cluster swap and called it good. And it is quite easy to do. Do spend some time looking at the DIY section master index.
