Plumdog Millionaire
Hey guys/gals. So i started to build up my 87 Jeep MJ drum brakes and when i was tearing them down a few weeks ago, I noticed there were no parts inside except the driver side wheel cylinder. So I went to my local auto part store and ordered all that i could but am unsure of what all I need. Does anyone have a complete list or could they help me find a few of the levers/struts that go inside of it? I know I'm missing the park brake lever, the strut and spring and the shoe guide plate. Id like to mention it has a dana 35 with the 10inch x 2 1/4in brakes. Thank you in advance!
Tex06
This link is for my '92, but Rock Auto is having a big clearance on Jeep brake parts. Tex06
I saw quite a few of the adjusting and parking brake levers for my year, maybe someone can chime in if they're the same?
fiatslug87
Edit: Added 90 w/D35 & 87-90 w/D44 P.S. I can send PDFs if you cannot read this, pm an email address. 87-89 w/D35 90 w/D35 87-90 w/D44
Eagle
Those are unusual for a Dana 35. Most D35s have 1-3/4" drums. The wider ones are basically D44 brakes. I've heard of them on the D35 but I've never seen one set up that way. Pretty sure the spreader bar (#5 in the diagram) and the parking brake lever (#6) are the same. The hold-down pins for the shoes are different, and the backing plates are different. And the wheel cylinders are different, of course.
desbennett004
I seem to remember the 10" drums were an option for the police package, for those places that used Cherokee's as police vehicles. Didn't know they did the same for the Comanche. Maybe it's the same, or maybe a part of a towing package? Those with the Dana 44, and maybe the police option (which was obviously only on Cherokees, not Comanches) were 10"x2-1/2".
