Ok tell me what you think of trans and transfer

I'm looking at doing a 5.3 Chevy swap and looking everyone input on the trans and transfer case. From what I've read the transfer case sound solid, on the trans is this commonly know as the AW4?

 

Any help would be great!

Yes, the Aisin Warner Model 30-40LE is the Jeep XJ/MJ/ZJ AW4 if that's what you are asking.

The AW4 is a great transmission.

 

But I would never consider it while doing a 5.3L swap.  GM started making really good OD transmissions by the time they rolled out the 5.3L.  The 4L60E is fairly flawless behind that engine, and there is some other options if you want to go more HD or not, all with no adapters required.  Also, GM offered a variety of transfer cases, most of which are as good or better than the old NP231J/AMC.
