Jortega3333
So I have read a lot about the blower motor issue and resistor issue but my symptoms are a little different in that my heater and AC work fine and the blower works in all fan speeds, but will eventually slow down in the volume of air it puts out. Is this still the same issue with the resistor and or blower replacement? Any ideas and help is appreciated. Thank you
Eagle
Does the blower really slow down, or does the air start coming out of the defrost outlets on top of the dashboard when you're going uphill?
Jortega3333
Only tried with AC and it always comes out the front vents just a lower volume, but sounds like the fan is still operating at same speed. Seems like it is after the fan has been running for about 15-20 minutes.
Eagle
Have you checked to see if air comes out of the top of the dash when the front vents seem to slow down? Does it happen mostly when going uphill or under load? The ventilation system is controlled by vacuum. The system is set up such that when vacuum is lost, the flapper doors default to sending air to the defrost outlets on the top of the dashboard. Loss of vacuum is usually caused by deterioration of the hoses to the vacuum reservoir behind the front bumper on the passenger side, or by damage to the reservoir itself. cruiser54
Try what Eagle suggests first. If that's all working well, do this: http://cruiser54.com/?p=
SVPete
What Cruiser said ^^^^^ Experienced your issue also. In the process of cleaning ground connections, it went away. The ground terminal for my heater was also installed upside down (from the factory), which means it was barely making contact with the body. And if there's a bad ground, the brown wire on the ignition switch, along with the switch itself, tends to fry.
