Siopposition
Hey all. this may seem like a silly question, but I got a full center console from a 88 MJ. I have a 90 MJ, and for some reason it doesn't seem to fit. The dash that's in my truck is from a 95 XJ. are there any parts that are different or anything I need to remove. my truck originally had a bench seat and a stub console. There seems to be part of the feet ports for the air in the way. is this factor or do I need to remove apart of this to get the console to fit in properly? if anyone has any answers or even a picture of their swap id appreciate it thanks. gogmorgo
The heater box is different between the full and mini consoles. The full console has ducts that direct air towards the rear of the seats, and the mini console doesn't, so where the full console's ducts interface with the heater box is different. HOrnbrod
^^ This. You need to get the front air duct that came with the MJs and XJs with the full floor console to fill the gap up front. EDIT: And I'm glad you asked this question Siopposition, because I'm not even sure I have the right air duct on mine either. Can anyone snap a pic of how the floor console butts up against the heater box with the correct air duct? An XJ pic will be fine too.
Minuit
Just for you, Don. I don't think the console would fit with the wrong duct.
HOrnbrod
Thank you Sir! IB okay since it looks just like your pics. I put the console in years ago and remember I didn't use the duct pipe that runs inside the console, and pop-riveted a block-off plate over the heater box discharge opening. 64 Cheyenne
Thank you Sir! Since I have the console out anyways, think I'll do this also. It seems that I never get enough airflow through the defroster or floor vents in the winter.
