xjustinx Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Whats the purpose of the 25 inch accelerator cable with the spring near the manifold?
gogmorgo Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 What exactly are you looking at? Every MJ will have the cable from the gas pedal to the throttle body. Automatics will have another for the throttle valve, they'll run from the throttle body down to the driver's side of the trans. Cruise control equipped models will also have one running from the throttle body to the cruise unit on the front passenger inner fender.
xjustinx Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 Sorry I'm talking about on the actual cable from the pedal to lever on the manifold. This: Vs.
xjustinx Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 Cruise? Maybe. I broke the one with the spring. I just replaced it with the cable without one.
gogmorgo Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Year/motor? Sorry, doesn't look anything like my 4.0 HO Auto w/cruise.
Eagle Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 What exactly are you looking at? Every MJ will have the cable from the gas pedal to the throttle body. No. The Renix XJs and MJs have the throttle cable running to a bellcrank mounted on the driver's side frame stub ear. From the bellcrank, IIRC, there's a rigid rod that extends up to actuate the throttle body butterfly.
gogmorgo Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 You misunderstand the sentence. It wasn't the clearest, but I was just identifying what the three cables were for, which was how the question was worded. But good to know.
