sinkrun
Can not find a clear answer on how to remove the shafts from the rear d44 in a 89 Comanche so I can have the bearings and seals replaced. Local shop said if I get them out 20.00 a side to remove replace with new if I buy the parts.
Rockfrog
The axle retainers bolt onto the backing plates, undo those and pull the shaft free. Bearings and seals are retained on the axle shaft by a retainer sleeve that needs to be cut off.

ComancheKid45
Probably just stuck. If all 4 bolts are out of the retainer, try the slide hammer again
sinkrun
Got it you do have to beat the crap out of it, 3 pound hammer beating on the slide hammer did it took good 10mins.
