Iowamike Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Trying to get floor pans on the cheap. The salvage yard guy in town is a friend an doesnt charge me much. But he only has cherokees in the yard. I could only find a good pan in a 96 he had will it work, an can the carpet be swaped seemed in decent shape. Maybe if i cut the carpet where the cab ends on the truck?
Megadan Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 As far as I know the footwell area of the floors is the same, but the midde to back area is a little different. Most XJ made floor pan replacements require a little tweaking to work on an MJ.As for the carpet, maybe, but I have a feeling behind the seats may require a little finesse but I bet it could be made to work.
FrankTheDog Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 The 95-01 carpets will have a hump molded in where the front of the seat bracket mounts to. That may prove awkward. 84-94 won't have that.
Eagle Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 A friend cut the driver's floor out of the wreck of an '89 XJ I had here and used it to repair his '87 MJ. IIRC he had to fab a copy of the raised rib in the MJ because his was so far gone -- and the XJs don't have that piece.
mikekaz1 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Fwiw when I replaced the floor. My internal frame support was pretty well gone. So it ends just in front of the seat bracket. I was originally debating just welding in a 1/8 strip in place of it. But I never replaced it. I also haven't seen any I'll effects from not having it (XJs never had it).
sbczr2 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I have found that it will work but like the other said it does require so help
