Oil pans off and the lower half of the seals out. Is there any way to get the top half out with out removing the cam? Various youtube vids show people just tapping it out with a punch. Is there a specific direction i need to tap from and is there a better tool for the job?

Hydraulic fluid loss clutch to floor
Iowamike replied to Iowamike's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So i guess its break fluid because its empty, but the breaks work the clutch don't. I am new to manuals, first one. -
So i finally fixed my death wobble. Took the 4.0 manche 5 speed 88 out for a cruze with the old lady. Got about 30 min out and the clutch goes to the floor. I get out to see about a pint or less of hydraulic fluid under her. I know little of trans so any advice would help looks like the leak was at the bell house an engine but havent got a better look yet.

I can't seem to get a u joint to fit my mj its an 88 4.0 4wd 5 speed. Is it a normal size u joint? autozone has given me two duds so far. A customer behind me, said they can be hard to find one to fit. Never had this problem with my other dana 30s did find two extra bolt hols under my diff cover that had no hole in the cover for them. But I'm pretty sure its stock axle.

Trying to get floor pans on the cheap. The salvage yard guy in town is a friend an doesnt charge me much. But he only has cherokees in the yard. I could only find a good pan in a 96 he had will it work, an can the carpet be swaped seemed in decent shape. Maybe if i cut the carpet where the cab ends on the truck?

Pre-initial startup tips
Iowamike replied to CONKLINATOR's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just got my 88 going again yester day. Marvles mystery is what i used. All the rubber o rings on the injectors, radator hoses, an fuel pump where roted an the fuel rail need an o ring too. O an fuel lines that where high pressure got tossed for the hell of it. Radiator flush an new thermostat was rusted shut. She sat for 4 years or so though. -

Steering column key release?
Iowamike replied to Iowamike's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
After more reading. It looks like theres a linkage from the old jeep, it came from I'm guessing its an automatic wigit is there a conversion i got a 5 speed peugeot. Or do I just have to leave the dash apart to push it back in? -
Put a new ignition cylender in the 88 manche. After install and prior the key wouldnt come out. After i took the dash off there was a gray knob that poped out of the buttom of the column. So i pushed it in an the key comes out. Turn the key it pops back out, an the key won't come out. Is there some thing I'm missing? The column was out of a cherokee with tilt an works fine other then this knob / key problem.
