GeorgiaJeeper93 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 So my 86 MJ is almost ready to be lifted. It has stock axles and gears. Realistically, how much can I lift, and what size tires can I run on the stock axles and gears. It will be mostly a DD with maybe some very light trail riding.
Pete M Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 which gear ratio do you have? to me, rocker guards are more important than lift and I wish I had done them first. :( my truck has 5.5" lift and 33s and I still managed to smash them pretty good from a hill climb on a simple forest trail run. :doh:
87Warrior Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I would stop with 31" tires. You do not need a lift to fit 31's, but 2-3" of lift will give the truck a finished appearance.
Doc. Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 X2 2-3 lift and 31's. Cheapest, easiest, least amount of complications for street ability, but still helps a bunch off road.
