87MJTIM
Find the factory service manual online. They're out there. You can search jeep4x4center.com. Scroll down the left side column. Select "Jeep Knowledge Base." Then select "Online Repair Manual." It doesn't list MJs, but you can select the Cherokee model. Select a year. then scroll down the "Category" list for transmissions. There are two sections. You can download these for future reference.

Megadan
Have a shop press? Manual transmissions are pretty straight forward to rebuild, but you often need a press to remove and install bearings and certain other parts.
rocks91mj
I'm sure I can do the job, just need a manual or a few pointers to get me over any problem spots. I saw a how to step by step write up somewhere , But can't seem to find it now. yes I have the use of a press next door so that's not a problem. I'm trying to take 2 ax15 trans and build 1 good one. One is a long tail shaft the other from a 4x4. Both in 1991 jeeps. The spline count is 23 not sure how that happened. I was thinking they would be 21 count, based on what everyone has told me. rocks91mj
I have rebuilt the t case in a 85 3/4ton chevy truck I had. Blew the planetary set pulling a heavy trailer over a tall curb. It broke the center hub In it. Or the weld that held it together.
