Paul Bruchal
I read its good for high end hp but is it too much back pressure? I have a LWB and my tailpipe is really long 2.25. I'm guessing from my headers all the way threw the Flow Master Super 44 its 2.5. Out of all 3 of my Jeep MJ's, I never had a tailpipe. Its crazy quiet and I'm just worried its too much back pressure and i don't wana break anything
shelbyluvv
Huh? It's a stock tail pipe. It's fine.
Paul Bruchal
I didnt know it was stock size. Thanks.
gogmorgo
Yup. 2.25 is stock size. Going up a size with the entire pipe will move your power band upwards, so you'll notice more power towards the top of your rev range, but at a cost of low-range torque. The same applies the other way, going down a size will increase low-end torque at a cost of top-end HP. In my mind, the engineers already picked the best compromise, and since I don't use it much beyond what it was intended for, I'm sticking with that size. shelbyluvv
If you are running 2.5" all the way from the header to the muffler. I would finish off the rest with it. It can't hurt.
Paul Bruchal
I just spent $60f or a very long and custom bent tailpipe. I don't want to spend the $ if I don't have to
Eagle
If you are running 2.5" all the way from the header to the muffler. I would finish off the rest with it. It can't hurt. Yes it can. Many years ago, when my '88 Cherokee (which I bought new) was in need of an exhaust system, my brother was managing a Speedy Muffler shop. As a birthday present, he replaced the exhaust system for me. Without asking me (although I probably would have jumped at it anyway), he went 2-1/2" all the way to the end. It sounded ... meh. But ... I could feel the loss of low-end torque (it's a 5-speed), and I lost 2 MPG in fuel economy. As I'm sure I have posted before, that was the only time in my life when I actually looked forward to having to replace an exhaust system. When the time came, I went back to stock diameter with an OEM-replacement muffler, and I've never regretted it.
