snakedoc67
If the serpentine belt is off, should I be able to turn the water pump pulley by hand?

Rockfrog
A new pump will offer some amount of resistance, even a good used pump should have some resistance due to the seals. When he says spin freely he does not mean like a pinwheel in the wind. It should spin about as freely as the mechanical fan spins freely.
snakedoc67
the problem ended up being a bolt that was too long.
shelbyluvv
I know that bolt very well. I ran into that same issue. It's the one that come from the back with the nut on it.
