DirtyComanche Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 I'm going to look through the FSM in a minute... But I had idle problems, as in it didn't idle when warm. So I grabbed a shiney new IAC from the boneyard figuring that was the problem. Now it really won't idle...
fiatslug87 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Nevermind... So what happened? Was it your IAC? Thanks
rdp001 Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007  Yes I know what you are talking about, Ijust had the same problem with my 88.mine was the map sensor .I also had a bad connection with the TPS.Fixed the TPS and she wouldn t return to idle ( read running @ 3000 RPM)then put the new MAP sensor on and she idled @550 to 750 then bolted up a new IAC and she ran next to perfect @650/700.I have noticed a lot of wiring problems with the connecters I would suggest that you definitly check those and if you change plugs on anything do not use crimp fittings!!! Those are worthless!!!.Of course I am blessed with the renix system and I think it is worthless. If you have any questions Email me I can probably talk you thru it also . greetings Ron. 8)
DirtyComanche Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 It's weird. The reason it didn't work was I knocked off one of the ballast resistor leads. It fired up and did the usual climb to about 3k, then it came down and died. I thought 'hmm, it ain't idling at all'. Then I realized what my problem was. After it got warm, it still wouldn't idle. So I disabled the EGR and then it did... So I should probably take a couple minutes and go through the manual.
rdp001 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007  EGR ?? hmmm havn t seen those fail much at all in the south,my first guess would have been Fuel Press. Actually!?Glad you found the problem ! greetings Ron
DirtyComanche Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 The thing is a pile. I need to spend a weekend and track down all the problems with it. The issue is that I take it out every couple weeks and flog it to death, and it sits all the other time. And I never do ANY maintenance...
