Comanche County
I'm trying to find the right part number for an 87' renix TBI 2.5 with a serpentine pulley. The block is actually an 2001. I have a newer MFPI 2.5 balancer but the pulley is much closer in toward the block, it won't line up with the renix accessories. Anyone know good part number so I can order one? Thanks! jimoshel
I just went thru this a couple weeks ago. As near as I could determine there are four different pulleys for the 2.5. The difference being the distance of the inner hole Don't have a part No as I found one in the scrap, er, spare parts bin. Lay a straight edge on the old pulley. Measure the distance from the straight edge to the inner hub. This will tell you which pulley you need if you find a used one.
Rockfrog
You may have to add a spacer in behind it to push it back out. You need to check the 2001 crank snout dimensions versus the 1987 crank snout dimensions. You may be dealing with an issue opposite to a 4.0 stroker build using an early crank. Given the 2.5 shares most external and many internal parts with the 4.0 (the 4.0 actually being a 2.5 with two cylinders added) it most likely shares the same crank snout dimensional changes. You will likely find you need to ADD a 10mm spacer to the crank snout (so actually in behind the damper) to adjust for that.
Jeep Driver
PB1482N Power Bond. It is a Dayco balancer, excellent quality, and OReilly can order it in. As to the '01 crank, the snout is about 3/8" shorter, the balancer will install just like on the '87........bolt it up and go.
Jeep Driver
To clarify- You can use '87 accessories on a '97-up block and crank but you cannot use '97-up balancer and accessories on a '87 crank.
